ORIGIN:
Original emo culture born in the '80s as a musical style derived from the American hardcore punk, the word "emo" comes from Emotional hardcore music. Currently his music is more commercial and best known representative is My Chemical Romance and Green Day (although many people does not place this group as emo).
· Behavior:
Their ideology they say, is mostly emotional, and with a peculiar way of dressing which is predominantly black color for men and pink for women, with duality between the two, another feature is the hair that covers their eye, sometimes both as a way of hiding part of their identity. You could say that of particular importance and settling for the feelings and conduct of the person from the emotional point, as the songs focus on love, hate or disappointment in life.
· Current situation:
The emos are quite widespread, especially in Latin America, and related subcultures have emerged as the "pokemosnes." At present the majority of teenage emos are between 14 and 20. Have a negative view of life and tend to show the world as pessimists and victims of a society created thinking more capital and private interests who forgets people and their real needs. Both emos like Pokemon have much to say, as though they are peaceful people, have detractors who are accused of surface and following fads, which has repeatedly led to fights or social rejection to this urban culture.
CHARACTERISTIC:
Hair slicked back covering part of the face, piercings, Converse shoes, wristbands, badges, hoodies, tight shirts (usually black) and pants in sight.
Use piercings, tattoos and, unlike the "Gothic", tend to break up the monotony of dark clothing through a garment or accessory fluoride.
· SELF-HARM:
There are "emos" that, among other shady practices, cut the skin as a synonym of discontent with the world around them and fantasize about suicide.
Some couples of "emos" cut the body to carry the same brands as a symbol of brotherhood, which is, in times of HIV / AIDS, a health risk.
To upload videos to the Internet where the arms are cut off. In fact, on You Tube are dozens of video clips where young "emo" cut arms.
CONTROVERSY:
Recently it has been considered that the emo trend can not be considered as an urban tribe (though it is). In part, thanks to those who only see it as fashion, the fact that their ideology does not provide any social or political proposal excludes them from being considered as an urban tribe, and only becomes an expression of marketing. Some specialists in urban groups have labeled the emo trend as a simple fashion that fail to adopt the individual where this is to face real responsibilities, like getting a job, for example. But like any movement, the ideals and way of life are what really make the difference between someone who is a certain movement, or only takes it as fashion.
